Before coming to Offsetters, Maria worked as Centre Manager at 4D LABS, a new $35 million nanotech research centre at Simon Fraser Univeristy. Prior to that Maria held contracts at UBC, SFU and DFO on coordinating wild/farmed salmon as well as other marine ecology research. She is also experienced with managing multidisciplinary research involving diverse stakeholders, as well as in conflict resolution and administrative fairness.

Maria focused on climate-related issues during her BSc with a focus on Earth Systems Science, Climatology and Ecology. She also worked as an Ecology TA and on paleoclimatology and remote sensing research at  McGill and SFU.
