Christopher Hakes - Manager, Client Engagement
Christopher completed an MSc in Environment and International Development at the University of East Anglia in the UK where he specialized in the policies and impacts associated with climate change. His dissertation research focused on the opportunities and barriers as perceived by the Whistler business community toward reduced GHG emissions. He originally joined Offsetters as an Associate conducting greenhouse gas inventories and reduction programs.
Christopher has over a decade of experience as an environmental project manager and consultant with various national and international sustainability-focused organizations.
Christopher helped to set up an environmental consulting business in Toronto and has worked with groups such as the Resort Municipality of Whistler on their Community Sustainability plan.
Christopher played a key role in both the education and development departments of the Schad Foundation’s Earth Rangers program. In addition to developing an in-school environmental education program that has been seen by over 160,000 elementary school students in the Toronto area, he also managed the media and in-kind donations for that organization.
As Operations Manager for Blyth & Company Student Programs, he developed and managed academic programs in such diverse locations as Rome, Oxford, Paris, and the Galapagos Islands. In addition, as co-director of the VIEW Foundation, Christopher helped to design and run volunteer sustainability service programs in Costa Rica, Antarctica and Baffin Island. Back to Staff
